Choosing the right tint shade is one of the most important decisions when getting your windows tinted. Our interactive shade selector lets you preview different darkness levels on a vehicle so you can see what 5%, 20%, 35%, 50%, and 70% VLT actually look like before you commit.
VLT stands for Visible Light Transmission — it's the percentage of light that passes through the film. A lower VLT number means a darker tint. For example, 5% VLT (often called "limo tint") blocks 95% of visible light and appears nearly black from outside. On the other end, 70% VLT is almost clear and is commonly used on front windows and windshields to stay within legal limits while still blocking heat.
California allows any darkness on the rear windows and rear windshield. Front side windows must allow at least 70% VLT. Windshields can only be tinted on the top 4 inches (visor strip) unless you have a medical exemption. Our team can help you choose shades that look great while keeping you legal.
Both our Ceramic IR and Carbon IR films are available in most VLT levels. Ceramic provides higher heat rejection at every shade, while carbon offers a matte finish at a lower price. Use our film comparison guide to decide which is right for you.
