What is windshield protection film?
Windshield protection film is a clear layer applied to the outside of your windshield to take the hit from small rocks and road debris before they chip the glass. BestAutoTechs installs ExoShield ULTRA, an 8-mil PET film that ExoShield pre-forms and pre-cuts for specific vehicles, so it fits your factory windshield edge to edge with no cutting on the car. ExoShield lists 91% visible light transmission, 99.9% UV rejection and compatibility with ADAS cameras and sensors. We install it at your home or work anywhere in San Diego County and Orange County for $599, with a $200 deposit to book.

Does ExoShield windshield protection film work?
Yes — for what it's designed to do. The thick 8-mil layer absorbs and spreads out the impact of small rocks and road debris, so the hit lands on the film instead of chipping your glass.
No film makes glass unbreakable. A large or sharp impact can still damage a windshield. ExoShield is built to absorb the everyday hits.
Meet ExoShield ULTRA
ULTRA is ExoShield's heavy-duty windshield protection film. At 8 mil, it's about 60% thicker than ExoShield's GT3+ film, and it was originally designed for the flat, upright windshields that take the hardest hits, like Jeeps, Broncos and G-Wagons. It's a single layer of PET film with a nanoceramic top coat for scratch resistance and a crystal-clear adhesive. Designed in Canada, made in the USA.
Each ULTRA Pro kit is pre-formed and trimmed for one vehicle, leaving no more than about 1/16" of glass showing around the edge. No cutting on your car, no guesswork.

We prep your kit
We prepare your ExoShield ULTRA kit and pre-shrink it to the exact shape of your windshield. That takes 2–3 business days, inside your install window.

We come to you
Installed within 3–5 business days of your deposit, at your home or work. A garage is best. No garage? We'll book an early-morning appointment, when the glass is cool and there's less wind and dust.

Pay the $399 balance after install. We register your warranty and leave you a care card.

What the warranty covers
Covered: 3-year limited product warranty from ExoShield
- Manufacturing defects in the film: cracking, delamination, discoloration, hazing, yellowing
- Removal and replacement of the film for a covered defect
- No mileage limit
- Transfers to the next owner with your original invoice
Not covered
- Chips or cracks in the windshield glass itself
- Normal wear and scratches
- Damage from accidents, vandalism or harsh chemicals

Aftercare: simple, but it matters
- First 48 hours: avoid wipers, rain and car washes when you can.
- Full cure can take up to 7 days. A few water spots or slight haze during that time is normal and clears up.
- Wash gently by hand or use a touchless wash. Don't pressure-wash the windshield.
- Use an ammonia-free (tint-safe) glass cleaner.
- Keep wiper blades clean. Grit on the glass is what scratches film.
- Expect up to 24–36 months of protection on average. Then we can remove and replace it.
